The Qantas Founders Museum is a project owned by Qantas Foundation Memorial Ltd (QFM). QFM is independent of Qantas Airways and is a not for profit trust company established by the people of Western Queensland to honour the men who founded Qantas and to preserve the heritage of Qantas Airways. Even though wholly independent, QFM has been formed with the full support of Qantas Airways. QFM is registered with the Australian Taxation Office as a deductible gift recipient and donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Australian Federal and State Governments have donated more than $7 million and Qantas more than $2 million towards the establishment of the museum. Other significant companies have donated towards the preservation of our aviation history. Stage 1 – the original Qantas Hangar and Stage 2 – a large modern air-conditioned display museum are completed. Stage 3 – the airpark has commenced with the 747 Classic aircraft VH-EBQ, the Boeing 707 aircraft VH-XBA and the Consolidated PBY Catalina Flying Boat aircraft VH- EAX, as well as the Douglas DC-3 aircraft VH-EAP now on display with plans to build a roof over the aircraft to protect them from the sun.
